Notes from the studio —
focused on art, observation, and creative practice.
A mistake 5 years in the making.
I’ve received a ticket for a car I no longer own. The DMV in California says it’s mine. Is the car still mine? How far down this rabbit hole do I want to travel?
When did sleep become required?
I was once a night owl. Sleep was the thing that happened in short spurts. Naps happened only on weekends and lunch breaks. Cozy naps on a cold and rainy day, snuggled under a warm and inviting blanket is the SHIT! It became an addiction. I looked forward to a nap.
I’m alone in the house.
There is a deep sadness when you lose a parent. It hits you at times when you least expect it. Sounds, smells and a flashback of something you remembered that makes you smile. It’s an ache that you feel in your heart, a weight that you now carry.
Is garage sale-ing still a “thing”?
Somewhere between 1975 and 2005, garage sales died. A concept of passing on things you no longer wanted or needed fell by the quickness and disposable Amazon world we currently reside. What do you do with the things no longer want or need?
A non-facebook past life.
Do you know how quickly projects can be derailed by finding old photos? Fast. I have discovered boxes filled with old photo albums, envelopes of prints and flipping through my teens, 20s and 30s. Spent an ENTIRE memory soaked, warm and cozy day traveling down a road I had forgotten.
Life Not on the Road “Yet”
I’ve decided since I’m now working for myself to put my best foot forward and try and write a blog once a week. It’s going to be more of the “this is what’s going on in my head” type story. My blog will hopefully be a way for me to stay creative and channel this energy I have to get back on the road.
From Boiled Veggies to Culinary Bliss: My HelloFresh Journey
Ever wish you could cook? You know knew what tasted good but stuck with the same food or same dishes you’ve always had? I attempted to step out of my food comfort zone and tried Hello Fresh. Is it worth it -yes. Will I do it again, no. Well, maybe.
How do you fill your Soul?
What fills your Soul? What makes you happy? For me, it’s an adventure, it’s taking photos, finding beauty in unexpected ways. It’s taking my love of photography and re-teaching myself who I am as a photographer and a storyteller.
2020: 60 Second Year in Review
