Notes from the studio —
focused on art, observation, and creative practice.
Visiting the Field of Dreams
Blue skies, farms for miles, and a small but well-known baseball field sit in the upper northeast area of Iowa.
1800 Mile Road Trip across the US (Part 1)
When I told people I was taking a vacation to Iowa, I heard a lot of …IOWA? Why Iowa? It may not epic mountains but don’t sleep on what this state offers.
Ohio: Squire's Castle & a Frozen Lake
Winter in Ohio is a love/hate relationship. I love it for its beauty, the unsaturated world it becomes. A blanket of fresh snow, landscapes that alter, and the challenges it brings as a photographer. NE Ohio was slammed this year with snow
Ohio: Van Gogh Immersive Experience
The music hummed and vibrated the floor, through my shoes, and into my chest. It was one of my favorite ways to see his work.
Ohio: Nelson Ledges State Park
Nelson Ledges Kenedy State Park is probably one of my favorite parks in Ohio. A maze of rocks, waterfalls, and hiking in some of the fascinating landscapes in Ohio
Ohio's 32,000 Acre Outdoor Playground
When I was in college, I would drive around the area looking for photographs. I would often find myself in Cuyahoga County. It was a large nature preserve and had a fantastic road the weaved through trees.
WV: America’s Newest National Park, New River Gorge
Taking the long way home to Ohio from North Carolina, I visited the newest addition to our parks system, New River Gorge in West Virginia, which is the 63rd National Park.
OH to NC | US Road Trip
The best part of the road trip, is the actual road trip. This is the start of my adventure through 4 states, multiple mountain passes, twists and turns, rainstorms, a national park, waterfalls and a wedding.
The Coolest Experience I’ve Had
Nature astounds me. I experienced one of the most unique natural occurrences in my life. Watching and listening as thousands of purple martins settle in for the night.
