Notes from the studio —
focused on art, observation, and creative practice.
Decision fatigue.
There is a saying adapted from the Scottish Poet, Robert Burns, it's often quoted as “the best laid plans of mice and men gang all agley “ meaning that no matter how well you make plans, the whole thing can go spectacularly wrong anyway. I always called it Murphy’s Law.
When did sleep become required?
I was once a night owl. Sleep was the thing that happened in short spurts. Naps happened only on weekends and lunch breaks. Cozy naps on a cold and rainy day, snuggled under a warm and inviting blanket is the SHIT! It became an addiction. I looked forward to a nap.
Holding myself accountable!
I can blame COVID or a variety of other legitimate reasons, but only when I can hold myself accountable for my own actions can I make a change. Routines and habits must shift if I plan to lead this life I’ve worked on creating.
I’m alone in the house.
There is a deep sadness when you lose a parent. It hits you at times when you least expect it. Sounds, smells and a flashback of something you remembered that makes you smile. It’s an ache that you feel in your heart, a weight that you now carry.
Starting My Creative Business
It’s a SH!TSTORM! I embarked on my Etsy journey back in 2019 — it is my creative outlet. I’ve dug my heels in this April to make this a viable online business. I feel like I’m swimming upstream. It has been a continuous cycle of learning, dedicated efforts toward enhancement, and the relentless emergence of fresh design ideas.
Distractions are the…
I relate to Dug. Often things distract me. I start a project, and while I’m actually working on something, a random thought “oh, I should do this” pops into my head and I’m down the rabbit hole of creative tasks and projects. Sometimes it can be weeks before I get back to the ORIGINAL task.
