My Story

I’m Joy. I have a BA in Studio Art with a focus in photography and I’ve always been drawn to creating with my hands.

While I studied drawing and visual fundamentals, painting is the medium I’m actively learning now — exploring how I want to work, what I want to say, and what my voice looks like as an artist.

My process is rooted in observation and imagination. Sometimes I paint from reference, and other times entirely from what I can see in my head. This studio is a place to explore that process — and to encourage others to begin creating, with or without formal training.
