When my cousin Dave called and asked what I was doing for Memorial Day weekend, I jumped at the chance to get away. I drove the 3ish hours to northern PA and discovered a beautiful part of the US.

Ohio is Beautiful is seen on multiple billboards. Touring the Ohio Erie Towpath & Canal, a 110 mile stretch that follows the Cuyahoga River from Cleveland to Zoar you can discover why.

If you are dreaming of travel and wanting to get out and explore nature, look to your backyard. I have rediscovered my home state. I have found places I love and want to visit multiple times, including Ashtabula County, Ohio which has 16 drivable Covered Bridges.

I’ve been rediscovering a love for my home state. Ohio is not at the top of the list for adventure, places to visit or explore, but you shouldn’t skip it or you would miss out on the many places that will create memories of a lifetime.

My friends and I spend the day exploring wine country in Dover and Sugarcreek, Ohio. The hilly, curvy & narrow roads are also home to Ohio’s Amish community.

I borrowed my dad’s car (slightly better on gas) and headed to Marblehead Lighthouse, hoping to catch a glimpse and maybe some photos of the Neowise Comet.

If your travels point you towards Tennessee. Take the time and visit the Smoky Mountains. It will be a trip you will not forget. It quickly became my favorite location.

I traveled through Illinois and checked off a few gems along Route 66. There are a number of stops along the mother road to see and I tried to stop at as many as I could.

There are aspects of history we learn from our family. Stories that have been passed down through generations and letters kept through the decades. Abe Lincoln is a part of my story & my family history.
