RV Decor that fits A tiny space

Are you a perfectionist, like me?

I’ve found that I’m a bit of a perfectionist in some ways. I’m definitely like this in regards to my art. I photograph or draw something and love the end results but then I doubt it, I know I can do better.

I question it. How can I make it better?

I criticize it. I then re-edit it.

I’ve even been this way with my homes, as I live somewhere my sense of home changes and develops into a space I fall in love 🖤 with. It becomes a place that makes me happy.

Previously, once I made a home mine, I would inevitably have to move, due to rent increases or job changes.

I don’t mind change, in fact I tend to crave it. I think that’s why I was a photojournalist. Every day was different.

Making small changes.

I am currently parked in my parent’s driveway, it’s where I sleep and work.

The small kitchen window in the RV is bugging me, I love windows and natural light, especially during the day. However, in the early mornings, I LOVE my sleep. The kitchen window is small and wouldn’t be such a shock in the mornings when the sun wakes up (as my nephew says). I’ve been researching for the right coverage. Something that lets in light, but still provides privacy when I want it.

Currently, on the outside of the window frame, there are velcro attachments for a reflectix cover I found on Amazon that fit the window. This allows me to remove that cover during the day and attach at night, or in the case of winter, leave it up. Definitely not an attractive look, so I’ve been wanting to vamp it up, add my touch to it. Since I like change, I didn’t want to permanently attach a curtain rod. Spent hours looking at Pinterest and amazon to find a solution that would work. Didn’t quite find what I was looking for.

The window measures 22 x 13in, most curtain rods and curtains are too long or too heavy. I didn’t want anything too permanent yet, nor did I really want to drill any more holes in the walls of the RV.

Materials

  • Using command velcro strips ($13.49)

  • Two single robe hooks ($5.00 set of 2)

  • Tension curtain rod ($3.79)

  • Perfect sized valance in the material I wanted ($12.99)

I now have a curtain that I can remove quickly. (all purchased @Target)

What is the challenge?

Is it ideal? No idea, once I begin traveling again, I’ll see how it holds up. I may have to find another way to attach the hooks. If it works, I’m also going to spray paint them black.

In regards to the rest of my space; I have black-out curtains on the 2 large windows, three homemade blackout window coverings made from reflectix for the upper bunk, and a door window and fitted front window covers that block a large portion of light in the cab. It’s winter however so I have a blanket blocking off the front cab section. (maintaining heat).

The biggest challenge however is to make your space mobile-friendly. Less clutter and minimizing the number of things I have to put away, move or store every time I travel is my goal!!

I say this as a pile of “things” lay next to me on the bench needs to be put in its proper area!

My Question for you….

Should I get more plants?

(and yes they are fake)
