Route 66: Texas Devil's Rope History & Disney Inspiration

Traveling through Texas into Oklahoma, I ventured onto Route 66 a bit more to catch a glimpse of the 1930’s architecture that existed in the eastern part of Texas. McLean, TX has the first Route 66 museum which has more authentic memorabilia which was donated or found by Texas locals.

The Conoco station in Shamrock, TX has been by far my favorite architectural landmark, and felt like I had stepped back in time. Would love it if they would make it into a working diner. Elvis even stopped by during the days of operation. I ended my day in Oklahoma City and spent the next couple of days editing. It was a well-deserved break from the high winds and wished I could have booked it for 3 days instead. BIG lesson…Travel MUCH slower.
